Follow the Clues Through Freising's Old Town

What does a thriving democracy need? Now you can explore this question hands-on with our new Democracy Rally, developed by Freisinger Raum der Begegnung e.V. for the Long Night of Democracy on 2nd of October 2026.

For about 45 to 60 minutes, families, school classes, and small groups step into the role of democracy reporters and set off on a discovery tour through Freising's town centre. Each station holds tricky puzzles — and another piece of the answer to the final question: What does a thriving democracy need? By the end, all the pieces you've collected come together to form the full picture.

The rally is available in German only, but designed to be flexible: you can tackle the stations in any order, skip individual tasks if you're short on time or find them too challenging, and if you start from the Karlwirt junction or from Untere Hauptstraße, a suggested route is provided for each direction. This makes it especially well suited for families with children who might need a break along the way, and for school classes exploring the rally at their own pace in small groups.
